He believed that <em>Silent Hill 2<\/em> didn\u2019t need a remake, a sentiment he held firmly when Konami first approached him in late 2019 or early 2020.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.relyonhorror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/20240819_094625-scaled-e1724075444141.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-114212 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.relyonhorror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/20240819_094625-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Silent Hill 2 Remake\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/a>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/games\/silent-hill\/original-silent-hill-2-artist-masahiro-ito-didnt-want-to-remake-the-survival-horror-masterpiece-but-decided-to-cooperate-to-make-sure-the-core-was-preserved\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GamesRadar<\/a>, Ito explained his initial reluctance via his translator at the Tokyo <em>Silent Hill 2 Remake<\/em> preview event on August 8th, \u201cThere was no need to do such a thing,\u201d he said, recalling his thoughts when Konami&#8217;s Motoi Okamoto reached out to him via Twitter. At first, Ito planned to reject the offer, feeling that the original game stood strong on its own.<\/p>\n<p>However, he soon reconsidered. Ito realized that the remake might proceed without his input, which could risk compromising the game\u2019s integrity. He decided to join the project, stating, &#8220;Rather than let the project go without him, he felt it was best for him to cooperate and to do his best to make sure that the core of what made <em>Silent Hill 2<\/em> was preserved.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.relyonhorror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/WCCFsilenthill2remake2-e1714487427674.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-113044 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.relyonhorror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/WCCFsilenthill2remake2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Silent Hill 2 Remake\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" \/><\/a>Ito emphasized that while the remake has undergone some stylistic and design changes, he managed to inject the original\u2019s core philosophies into the new version. This approach ensures that new players can experience what made the original <em>Silent Hill 2<\/em> a masterpiece while enjoying updated visuals and gameplay.<\/p>\n<p><em>Silent Hill 2<\/em> releases on PS5 and PC on October 8th, 2024.
